The Vineyard Picnic

The Domaine's farmers' market brings together local growers, makers and artists in one place. Browse the produce, build your own picnic basket, and head out into the gardens. Simple food, good wine, and the vines.

What Our Picnics Involve

It starts at the market. Local growers and makers bring their produce to the Domaine, cheeses, bread, charcuterie, olives, preserves and whatever is ready that season. You browse at your own pace and choose what you want.

From there, you build your own basket. Take it into the gardens or out among the vines, find a spot, and sit down. A bottle of Grand Cros rosé is there if you want it. There is no timetable and no guide. Just the estate, the food, and the afternoon.

Local artists also show their work across the estate throughout the season. You may come across a painting propped against a vine post or a sculpture in the shade of the olive trees. It is there if you want it. Easy to miss if you don't.

The Market at Grand Cros

The estate produces more than wine. Olive oil and vinegar are made on site from 500 trees grown here for decades. The farmers' market brings this together with produce from local growers across the Var, people who work the same land, in the same way.

It runs throughout the season. Come once and fill a basket for the afternoon. Come back when something new is ready. The market changes as the months do. The estate stays the same.

 The Var, at Its Quietest

Le Grand Cros sits within the Côtes de Provence appellation, at the edge of the Massif des Maures. The surrounding land, pine forest, stone terraces, open hillside, shapes everything grown here. It is a part of Provence that moves at its own pace. The picnic does the same.
