Welcome to the Domaine du Grand Cros

Making wine in Provence since 1989

The Domaine

Between land and sea, at the centre of an area of natural beauty renowned for its flora and fauna, lies the village of Carnoules.

Its Provençal traditions, cultural heritage, rich railway history and above all, its outstanding natural environment, gives the village a unique atmosphere rarely found elsewhere.

On the edge of the village stands the Grand Cros. Nestled in nature, amid the vines, olive trees and natural woodlands, lie 8000 m2 of gardens dedicated to welcoming you and your loved ones into the warmth and tranquillity of nature at its best.
At the heart of terraced vineyards, rise majestic olive trees, many dating back centuries... and this beautiful shaded corner surrounded by olive trees provides the perfect setting for your secular ceremony, or perhaps a romantic photo session capturing the sunset and the moment forever…

The day after your wedding, why not continue the magical experience with a family brunch by the swimming pool, shaded by our magnificent, ancient palm trees…

Our Story

Jane and Hugh Faulkner acquired Le Grand Cros without big wine-making aspirations. Their first year they earned 4 gold medals from France’s top two wine competitions. This success was unprecedented and their oenologist convinced them that they must bottle their wine, instead of selling it in bulk which was typical back then in Provence.
So Jane, being the artist, created the labels and with no preparation and somewhat by accident they were in the business of making and selling wine. Their son Julian took over the business 10 years later and had ambitions to take the business further and make rosé that would be considered a fine wine.
For the last 20 years he has been experimenting with different techniques and protocols to make rosé more interesting and distinctive from the typical Provençal style. The fruit of that effort is best shown by our cuvée Aurélia.
